Hi there,
I'm Judy Croon. I'm doing something a little different today.
I’m chatting with my friend Christina Cherneskey and you’ll see why in a very quick moment.
Christina is a senior communications professional with 30 years of experience leading news teams, guiding leadership workshops, developing strategy, implementing award-winning news programs, writing articles and blogs, as well as instructing journalism, podcast creation and social media.
She is the CEO of her company, Christina Cherneskey Communications - a strategic media agency which helps clients tell their stories.
Passionate about her Ukrainian ancestry, she became an election observer for the Canadian government (2012 & 2014), overseeing two contentious elections in Ukraine with observers from around the world. Those journeys to Ukraine underscored the fierce pride she has for her heritage. She has never forgotten the hardships that her great grandparents endured when they emigrated to Saskatchewan from western Ukraine in 1905.
Today, Christina and I chat about direct and immediate ways that we can help the people of Ukraine. A great website is the Ukrainian Canadian Congress at
http://www.UCC.CA
If you have any websites that you want to share, please feel free to reach out to http://www.ChristinaCherneskey.ca or me at http://www.JudyCroon.com
Thank you

Hi there,I'm Judy Croon. Welcome to another episode of 'Laugh Long and Prosper' – Shelf Help with a dash of humour when appropriate. I believe that humour is one of our best coping mechanisms-especially when we are facing stress and unknown times like NOW!
Today my guest is comedian and journalist Denis Grignon.
This native of Eastern Ontario has been touring across Canada for more than 30 years. Early in that career, Denis realized that he wanted to perform comedy that worked above the neck, not below the belt. The Ottawa Citizen has described him as a “sharp and likeable comic who respects an audience’s intelligence.” The Globe and Mail, meanwhile, said he was “wonderfully relaxed.”
His comedy has been featured on such CBC National programs as The Debaters, Laugh Out Loud and Marketplace.
He also traveled to the other side of the planet, entertaining Canadian Forces in Afghanistan.
His humour is down-to-earth, but not below-the-belt.
An award-winning journalist, Denis’s radio documentaries are heard across the country on the CBC; he’s also a regular contributor to the Toronto Star. For the past two years, he’s produced and hosted The Advocate Podcast: Stories from Kawartha Lakes.
It’s a twice-monthly newsmagazine show about his NEW hometown area, where he lives on a farm with his magazine editor wife – and their two sons, when they’re home visiting from university.

Hi there,
I'm Judy Croon. Welcome to another episode of 'Laugh Long and Prosper' – Shelf Help with a dash of humour when appropriate. I believe that humour is one of our best coping mechanisms-especially when we are facing stress and unknown times like Covid.
Today is Monday. That’s means it’s time for 'Just Another Mindful Monday'.
I read a book recently, that made me feel just a little bit more peaceful…mindful shall we say.
The book is called Abundance: The Future is Better Than You Think by Peter H Diamandis.
In a nutshell, this book gave me hope that the world is not going to hell in a hand basket.
In fact, quite the opposite is happening.
Unfortunately, fear sells.
I blame a lot of this one of my old radio occupations – the news.
We tend to live in a world where a lot of bad news is reported every day.
Yes, bad things are happening all the time and it’s sad but is there an ulterior motive behind some of those headlines? Let’s face it, bad news sells. There is a reason why Fox made two billion dollars last year.
As Bill Gates once said, ‘No one wants to hear small incremental good news’.
However, there IS all sorts of small incremental good news happening every day -lots of good people continuously doing good things on a local and international level.
Factfulness and Humankind
Two of my favourite books (endorsed by Barack Obama and Bill Gates) are Factfulness and Humankind. They share the same message -the world is not going to end, just yet. However, what Abundance does is it put a little bit more specifics behind the dashboard.
So, let me share some of this good news with you.
